Apple may announce new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro at Nov 10 event

More may be in store than we thought for Apple's November event.

What you need to know

  • A new report from Bloomberg says Apple is ramping production for three new Mac laptops.
  • Next week's event may feature the release of a new 13-inch MacBook Air as well as 13 and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
  • The company is also working on a redesigned iMac and Mac Pro.

Reported by Bloomberg, Apple reportedly plans to unveil not one, but three new Mac laptops at its "One More Thing" event on November 10. According to the report, production is ramping up on a new 13-inch MacBook Air as well as a new 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. While each will feature Apple's new Apple Silicon processors, they will reportedly not feature any major design changes.

Apple and overseas suppliers are ramping up production of three new Mac laptops with Apple processors: new 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and a new 13-inch MacBook Air, according to people familiar with the matter. Beyond the processor switch, the devices won't have significant design changes.

Apple is also working on a redesigned iMac and an update to its new Mac Pro that will feature the new processors, but those models are not expected to be released this year.

The company is already at work on a redesigned iMac, the company's all-in-one desktop, and a new Mac Pro model, Apple's highest-end desktop, other people familiar with the company's plans said.

The new Mac Pro, according to the report, may come in at half the size of the current Mac Pro. Bloomberg notes that, if that is true, it is unclear if it is a replacement for the current generation or an additional model that will be offered.

Apple engineers are currently developing a new Mac Pro that looks like the current design at about half the size. It's unclear if that Mac will replace the current Mac Pro or if it's an additional model. Apple's chip designs could help the company reduce the size of its computers due to increased power efficiency, but the current Mac Pro is large, in part, to fit components like additional storage drives and graphics chips.

Today's news follows Apple's announcement of its "One More Thing" event that has been scheduled for November 10. The event is expected to feature the announcement of the first new Macs to feature Apple Silicon as the company transitions from Intel to its own in-house processors. The event may also feature the rumored AirTags and AirPods Studio headphones.
