"I work for sky. It was in one of our training videos last week."
What you need to know
- A rumor says that Apple TV may be coming to Sky Q in the UK.
- Sky Q already offers users all of Sky's live programming as well as apps like Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube.
A new rumor posted to Reddit claims UK users of Sky Q may soon be able to access the Apple TV app on the service.
Reddit user MrKatUK, who claims to be a Sky employee posted stating:
UK. Apple TV app coming to Sky Q Source: I work for sky. It was in one of our training videos last week
The report did not give any indication as to when the app might be released, however, the reference to employee training would suggest sooner rather than later. If the report is correct, it would mean UK Sky Q customers might soon have access to the Apple TV app within Sky Q.
Sky Q is UK broadcaster Sky's premium TV offering, an all-in-one package built around the Sky Q Box. It offers users access to all of Sky's live programming including Sky Sports and Movies (with subscriptions), as well as catchup and on-demand content from Sky, and recording, pausing, and rewinding live TV.
Sky Q already offers users access to services like Amazon's Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube as well as UK apps like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, and All 4, making an Apple TV app a notable omission currently.
A few users of the Apple TV Reddit asked about the possibility of a Sky Q app for Apple TV, but responses noted this would make the Sky Q box somewhat redundant so was extremely unlikely. The report is unconfirmed, but keep your eyes peeled for an Apple TV app for Sky Q on the horizon.
