- Apple Music is heavily rumored to be launching a new lossless.
Lossless audio sounds like it's coming.
Apple Music is teasing something new that will change music forever. That's as in-depth as the tease gets, with a new animation playing in the Browse section of the Apple Music apps across all devices.
Apple is heavily rumored to be getting ready to announce a new lossless music streaming tier, possibly bringing spatial audio to the mix as well. Some had previously claimed that May 18 will be the big day.
The animation does appear to tease some sort of spatial audio component with the Apple Music logo spinning and moving around as if to signify 3D audio.
This comes after 9to5Mac also spotted mentions in the Apple Music web apps that pointed to "lossless" multiple times. Two bitrates have also been spoken about: 24-bit/48kHz and 24-bit/192kHz.
The mentions of lossless also come alongside other references to Dolby Audio and Dolby Atmos, further whetting the appetite for a new feature that will likely require AirPods Pro and AirPods Max in order to function at its best. Unless there's something we don't already know about the equally rumored AirPods 3.
If all of this does go the way we expect, you're going to want to check out the best AirPods Max deals to make sure you're all set for whatever Apple has planned.
