What you need to know
- Sling TV has been updated with support for AirPlay.
- Users can stream content to an AirPlay-enabled device, including TVs.
Big news for those watching the sportsball on the big TV.
Streaming TV app Sling (or Sling TV, as it will always be to me ) has been updated to add support for AirPlay. The addition means users can cast their streaming TV, movies, and sports right from their iPhone and iPad and onto their big television for the first time.
The use case here is pretty obvious because it means users don't need to have the Slink app installed. As more TVs begging to support AirPlay this is a huge deal, giving people the chance to cast to a big screen with just a few taps.
You can now cast SlingTV from iOS using Apple AirPlay on TVs/devices that support Airplay. Also many player bug fixes that make viewing content more reliable.
All you need to do now is make sure that you have a TV with support for AirPlay. The list continues go grow and some are in our collection of the best TVs available today.
You can download the updated Sling app from the App Store right now and it's free. The update actually landed late last week and was spotted by the folk at Appleosophy.
