A new iPhone SE is reportedly coming in the first half of 2022

What you need to know

  • Apple is reportedly set to launch a new iPhone SE in the first half of next year.
  • The third-generation iPhone SE is already expected to offer 5G.

A faster chip and 5G are also expected.

Apple will launch a new iPhone SE in the first half of 2022 if a new report by DigiTimes is to be believed.

The DigiTimes report claims that Apple is set to give the budget iPhone within the next year, with chip companies set to benefit from the device's launch — including TSMC subsidiary Xintec.

Apple reportedly is set to roll out its third-generation iPhone SE series in the first half of 2022, providing new business opportunities for chip probing specialists including TSMC subsidiary Xintec, according to industry sources.

This report comes just weeks after analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made similar claims, pointing out that the new iPhone SE will be the "cheapest 5G iPhone ever" while also benefiting from a new CPU for speedier app response and load times. 5G connectivity and a faster chip will also ensure the new third-generation iPhone SE is a gaming monster, too.

Apple last refreshed the iPhone SE in April of 2020, adding an A13 Bionic processor and an impressive camera system.

Apple has the iPhone 13 lineup to get out the door before it can turn its attention to iPhone SE, but it's the budget device that is one of the most important. Available for a bargain $399, the device goes up against a plethora of Android devices at a similar price point.
