- A new report suggests both Pegatron and Foxconn will assemble Apple's iPhone 13 mini.
- This year's 5.4-inch model is expected to be the last due to poor iPhone 12 mini sales.
That despite presumably low numbers being produced.
A new report claims that Apple will use two manufacturing partners to assemble the upcoming iPhone 13 mini. According to a paywalled DigiTimes report, both Pegatron and Foxconn will be involved in assembling the 5.4-inch iPhone.
First shared by MacRumors, the DigiTimes report says that "Pegatron and Foxconn [are] to share new 5.4-inch iPhone orders" and also suggests that Apple has given the former a portion of iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro work, too.
Pegatron has obtained orders for the upcoming 5.4-inch iPhone model, as well as a portion of orders for another upcoming iPhone model that will feature a 6.1-inch display, according to market sources.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 13 lineup this September, with iPhone 13 mini set to be the last 5.4-inch model due to what is believed to have been disappointing sales numbers. This despite what appeared to be pent-up demand for a diminutive, flagship-class iPhone in the marketplace.
Rumors of the 5.4-inch iPhone's demise have circled for months, with next year's iPhone 14 expected to ditch the screen size altogether.
