You might get your next job thanks to TikTok's new resumes

What you need to know

  • TikTok has launched a new feature that it hopes will help people find new jobs.
  • TikTok resumes are live, but only in the United States.

Just maybe delete all your cat memes first.

Jobseekers might find their next role via the most unlikely of places — TikTok. That's after the video social network announced its new resumes feature, complete with a dedicated website.

TikTok says that people can post their resumes to its network using the #TikTokResumes tag, according to an Endgadget report. They'll need to be in the United States for now, but you have to imagine this is a feature that will roll out internationally eventually.

In expanding in this way, the company says it "believes there's an opportunity to bring more value to people's experience with TikTok by enhancing the utility of the platform as a channel for recruitment." And while it might seem strange for TikTok to push its users to upload video resumes, it's a reflection of the fact the platform was never just about viral dance videos. You can already find creators dedicated to helping other TikTok users build their careers.

Brands like Target and Shopify are already on board, with applicants now having until July 31 to get their resumes ready and posted to TikTok. That's just the first batch of jobs though — more will follow.

TikTok is already one of the most popular apps in the App Store and this will no doubt help it cement its position towards the top of the charts. Whether it's one of the best iPhone apps is a whole other question, though!

Will your next job come from TikTok?
