Anker's new Apex Thunderbolt 4 Dock has 12 ports and that's not all

What you need to know

  • Anker's new Thunderbolt 4 dock has 12 ports to its name.
  • You'll pay $299.99 to get one.

$299 is a lot of money though.

Anker has announced the Apex Thunderbolt 4 Dock and it's a beast in more ways than one — not least because it costs $299.99. But depending on what you need, that might be a bargain.

If there's a port your computer is lacking, there is a good chance this dock has it. It has 12 in total, including a "Thunderbolt 4 upstream port, a Thunderbolt 4 downstream port, a USB-C Power Delivery port, 2 HDMI ports, an Ethernet port, SD card slot, a 3.5 mm AUX port, and 4 USB-A ports." Don't forget the 90w USB-C PD pass-through for charging all your stuff as well.

Those two HDMI ports both support 4K at 60Hz and you can use Thunderbolt 4 to get 4K at 120Hz, too. Maybe that $299.99 asking price is starting to make a little more sense.

You'll need a Mac running macOS Big Sur or later to take advantage of all of these ports or, if you're so inclined, a PC running Windows 10 and later. Those people also get to enjoy 8K monitor output as well.

In terms of looks, it's fair to say this dock looks a little on the industrial side, but it's pretty enough and none of that will matter if you stick it somewhere it can't be seen. Let's be honest, Windows users have been doing that with their PCs for years.

Does that sound like something you're missing? You can order the Anker Apex Thunderbolt 4 Dock from Amazon now.
